Only one book so far: The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. I've become hooked on him and postmodern literature in general.

Wow who made this into a topic that I started? I replied to another post. Anyways, this book is about a monastery where a few people are mysteriously killed. A monk from England that bears a strong resemblance to Sherlock Holmes comes to solve the mystery.

It is not an easy read like a detective. Rather ot has loads of specific details on the medieval European history and religious movements, lots of phrases and fragments in Latin etc. So I still havent finished it. maryluvs_laughing.gif maryluvs_laughing.gif Besides I now have to do more reading on conference interpreting than fiction.

I think you'd like movie more, because it spares those details.

That's cool...I'm not the Latin expert or anything, but I've taken Latin courses for 3 yrs, hopefully it won't stumble me too much.

Incidentally, Big Jan is my new nickname for you. In Glasgow, an affectionate name for a tall person is 'Big Yin' (see Billy Connolly) which is pronounced remarkably like 'Big Yan', and that sound is very much like 'Big Jan' as in the pronunciation of beginning of your name... so, it makes a great nickname for you. tongue.gif
