QUOTE (Coko @ Jul 3 2005, 01:58 PM)
Are you homophobic?
Do you have any gay male friends?
How you do you feel around gay men?
What if a really close friend of family member to you he was gay?

1. No

2. I know a guy who is gay. We were cool in high school. He went away to college, was having sex with men, and now he's HIV positive, and weighs 95 lbs. We were tight in high school, but we kinda drifted apart after that. We talk probably once or twice every other month, Just to say what's up.

3. I don't feel uncomfortable, in general. I'll admit, when the gay outbreak came on this board, I was kinda maryluvs_furley.gif . I dunno, there's always that one gay dude you know of in school or round the way, and for the most part, you don't say nothing to them, and vice versa. I was telling a few peeps on here, I guess I wasn't used to gay dudes being so open and expressive, so I kinda lashed out. Now I'm cool about it. I have met some cool dudes on this board, and have had off board discussions with them. I'm honest about my feelings on homosexuality, tho. It's wrong. But I can be civil with a gay dude.

4. See above. We were already not as tight as we were in high school. So when I found out he was gay we were already distant. I don't look at him as gay, tho. He's the same person he has always been. I would say as long as they carry themselves like a man, and be respectful of other's wishes concerning their sexuality, I would be okay with them .

EXACTLY. I have no problem with homosexuals, though ,i do have my personal views and beliefs regarding it, but I can be cool with them when they act manly.... it's when they are all prissy and shit that it becomes hard to see past it, u know...

1. No i am not homophobic.

2. I have one gay male friend and I kinda feel sorry for him.

3. The one gay friend that I do have struggles with being gay and when he found out he was HIV positive it made it even worst. He doesn't believe in God, and yet he is going through this phase where he blames his misfortunes on God. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I feel uncomfortable around gay men, but I will admit that there is a sense of defense and space that I require when around them. It's almost like racisim, we all can holler that we are not racist all day long but the minute we get around another race in their predominate enviornment that sense of defense will kick in.

4. I don't have any family members that are gay, if I do I haven't found out about them yet. If I did have some that were gay then oh well. To me family is family no matter what, and long as they keep their lifestyle and stuff to themselves and not infringe on me and my lifestlye. I really never ever seen what's the big deal with Gay people. To me they are regular people, some people u will never know that they are gay unless they told u. I do have a problem with faggots though. I have had this discussion before, I can't stand a faggot. Not so much that they have done anything to me, I just can't stand for a guy to go around with a broken wrist, switchin and talking all girly and shit. Alot of gay people can't stand faggots either truth be it told. I can't stand a lesbian girl that's fine going around all acting like no dude either. But this is a free country and if that's what people do, then that's their right. On the religion side of it, I refuse to believe that on Judgement day God is going to say, "Oh you were a good person, but since you Gay you can't come to heaven." Sorry I will tell any preacher on this planet that that's not going to happen. God loves his creation, and he judges the heart not sexuality. Im sure God meant for a man to be with a woman, but hey God don't turn his back on his children because of sexual preference. If that's the case God would have to tell every person born of both female and male genders that their going to hell, and they were born this way.

You claim to not be homophobic, yet this what typically falls under the definition of it. How come anyone's being gay infringes your lifestyle? If you are vocal about being straight, why should the gay people keep it to themselves? maryluvs_rolleyes0.gif

Josh u read and interpreted that wrongly. I said that as long as they don't infringe on my lifestyle meaning as long as they don't knock my beliefs and things like that. Just like i won't flaunt my lifestlye in front of their face. Just a respect thing, that's all. I personally don't care if Gay people kiss in public, because my argument is why not, straight people do it. My friend that's gay had this same discussion and I explained this to him also. He's a real cool dude, just like a brother to me. He's proud of being gay but at the same time he despises himself because it's ruined his relationship with his mother and family. When he contracted HIV i didn't know about it until he finally had the courage to break down and tell me. I knew it was something wrong because he was missing work, and his whole mood and attitude did a complete 180. I learned a lot from him because he showed me how to think from both points of view. Like when I talk about a girl in general I may get carried away with it, he's not interested in girls so after awhile it may offend him. So one day he out the blue started talking about one of his male friends on purpose and I was looking at him like he was crazy. He said "Why you looking at me like that, u do the same thing to me when you talk about your girlfriends." He then said and you claim not to be homophobic, I thought about it and he was right. I explain all this because as soon as society can learn to think of things from both points of view, then the better off everyone will be. The man is like brother and even now sometimes I slip up and forget that he's gay when I go on about one of my tyraids about a new girl I met, he reminds me. Then I be like damn, and I know how hard it must be to walk in his shoes. Under constant critiscm and censure and for what? From the same religous fanatics that say that only God is capable of judging somebody, but in the same breath turn around and says that Gay is evil and is an abomination. So hypocritical. I often ask myself how would I feel if it were more gay people then straight and I was ridculed and judged for being heterosexual?

1. No

2. No

3. im not gonna front...some dudes make me feel real uncomfortable. but most of the time it doesn't bother me.

4. I mean...they would still be my close friend//family member. Their personal preference has nothing to do with me.

Are you homophobic? Nope

Do you have any gay male friends? Yup

How you do you feel around gay men? the same as I do around straight men - if they are cool, they are cool, if they are a prick, they are a prick. Every gay man is as individual as every straight man - they shouldn't be pigeon-holed.
Where someone parks their bike has nothing to do with their personality and views and opinions.

What if a really close friend of family member to you [said] he was gay? I wouldn't give a flying fuck. It's none of my concern how he gets his rocks off - it has no bearing on him as a person. I won't suddenly like or dislike someone just because they prefer the back door to the front door.

On a side note, I heard a couple of quite funny jokes the other day...
God created gay men cos he knew straight men would need someone to get the party started.
God created homosexuality so that gifted people wouldn't be burdened with children.
maryluvs_rotflmao2.gif

Interestingly, a gay man told me those jokes - says a lot about stereotypes maryluvs_giggle.gif

I used to be homophobic.
But hey i used to be homosexual too. hmmmmm
I have gay male friends on my myspace page.
My old friend from high school years is living the gay lifestyle.
I just dont pay it any attention when i am around the man i have been with when he is at church with me. I know that God has wiped that sin away. I am able to speak with him and serve the Lord with him.
If i found out that another member of my family was gay I would tell him to think about what can that lifestyle offer him and I would tell him that there is a way to change and thats by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior and letting him and the holy spirit Guide you.
